You can make an impact!

Each year, Design Foundation conducts an appeal designed to raise funds from individuals and corporate partners. These donations help to support our programming and operational expenses. With your support we can expand Design Foundation's impact and continue our mission to help creative minds discover talents, learn new skills, and prepare for a career in industrial design.

From Giving Tuesday, November 30, 2021, through December 31, 2021, we are seeking contributions from individuals and corporate groups to add to Design Foundation's General Fund.

2021 Annual Fundraising Appeal

2021 is special because it marks the 20th anniversary of our founding. We are proud of what has been accomplished in the past two decades and thankful that so many members of our global design community have contributed to our efforts. Looking ahead, we know there is so much more to be done to increase awareness of industrial design and access to industrial design education.

This includes: providing clarity to current programming; embracing and embedding diversity, equity and inclusion in all that we do; and planning for the expansion of our programming to serve more young people, from kindergarten through college. It is this vision for the work of Design Foundation in the future that drives our need for funding today.

Several provisions from the CARES Act of 2020 have been extended into 2021, offering enhanced charitable giving incentives for contributions made in this calendar year. The Design Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Please consult your tax professional for advice related to your specific circumstances.

Bright Spark Challenge

Design Foundation is a proud sponsor of the 2021 Bright Spark Invention Challenge "Best Prototype" Award. The Invention Challenge is a free and virtual entrepreneurial innovation competition for 4th-12th grade students.

Students from around the world used the design thinking process to identify a real-world problem, empathize, ideate, and prototype a physical invention for "The Future of Home."

Congratulations to Miky, a 7th grader from Kevalee International School in Bangkok, Thailand, for receiving the "Best Prototype" Award and Best Overall Middle School Project this year!

Scholarships
DF-2021Winners.jpg

Design Foundation awarded two $3,000 scholarships in 2021. These scholarships help students at the earliest stages of their design careers by providing much needed financial support.

Congratulations to the 2021 Undergraduate recipient Seunghark Cho (left) and 2021 Gianninoto Graduate recipient Pedro Villar (right). Both study at ArtCenter College of Design.

Testimonials from our 2021 Scholarship recipients:

"The Design Foundation Gianninoto scholarship gave me incredibly valuable recognition that encourages me to be confident about my design voice. It sparked a deep desire within me to share my vision through design and continue developing pieces that connect with people and make them notice and question their behavior."

"The scholarship really helped me reduce the burden of high tuition. It also made me recognized by various design studios. In fact, I am currently talking to a few companies for potential internships and even full-time positions."
