We are proud to announce the latest in a long line of annual Design Foundation scholarship recipients!
Jaehyeok (Jacob) Lee, a designer studying at Pratt Institute is awarded the $5,000 Gianninoto Graduate Scholarship.

Zeyu Tian, a designer also studying at University of Illinois Champaign Urbana is awarded the $5,000 Undergraduate Scholarship.

Design Foundation increases annual scholarship amount to $5,000
​
Following a successful round of fundraising at the end of 2021, Design Foundation's Board of Trustees unanimously approved an increase in the scholarship prize for both the Undergraduate and Graduate level programs. We hope these additional funds help students achieve even greater success in their studies.

2021 Annual Fundraising Appeal
​
From Giving Tuesday, November 30 through December 31, 2021, we will be proactively seeking contributions from individuals and corporate groups to add to Design Foundation's General Fund.
​
Our good friends at Whipsaw, American Standard (LIXIL), Metaphase, and Teague have generously donated a combined $13,500 in matching funds for every dollar we receive during this campaign to help maximize the contributions from our community!

Congratulations, Miky!
​
Miky, a 7th grader from Kevalee International School in Bangkok, Thailand, was announced as the recipient of the Best Protoype Award (sponsored by Design Foundation) and Best Overall Middle School Project in the 2021 Bright Spark Invention Challenge.
​
Students from around the world used the design thinking process to identify a real-world problem, empathize, ideate, and prototype a physical invention for "The Future of the Home."
​
Miky's project, called the "Smart Solar Cell for Home," is a device to maximize efficiency of home solar panels by orienting their angle (in real time) to the position of the sun overhead.
​

Design Foundation sponsors 2021 Bright Spark Invention Challenge

We at Design Foundation are proud to sponsor the Prototype Award in the 2021 Bright Spark Invention Challenge. This is a free virtual entrepreneurial innovation competition for 4th-12th grade students hosted by Bridge Innovate.
​
Students use the design thinking process to identify a real-world problem, empathize, ideate, and prototype a physical invention. Program sponsors Shaw Industries are inviting student participants to explore the Future of the Home and reimagine how homes will actively support how we live, entertain, learn and thrive in the next five years.
